My FitBit has a first name: it's H-E-L-P-FUL

This little thing is absolutely awesome! He's discreet, and has a little smiley that let's me know what he thinks of my efforts for the day! I get a :-) when I get a good amount of steps going, and a :-P when he thinks I should pick it up a notch.

I have lost my iPod Classic, I lost it last Friday and have not seen it since.... I'm pretty sad about it.
Mr. Clippy (my iPod Shuffle) is okay for gym and general music listening, but there wasn't a way for me to plug him into my car to listen when I'm driving (the radio stations here are so BORING and REPETITIVE when they're not playing a bazillion COMMERCIALS!) :-[

I wanted to find a cheap regular MP3 player to replace my original iPod (he's called Old Guy, cuz he was a few years old... I name my devices lol) but I can't find anything that has a good price to Gig-capacity ratio. I mean seriously, $25 for 2GB? Uh... no.

Anyway, just a quickie tonight. I am a very good talk-it-all-up-but-fail person this week. I had a plan to go to the gym 5 days this week, and have been twice. FML.

Today was my last day off until next Friday (2/22) when my cousin and I leave for our Snorkel/Dive trip in central FL. I cannot wait for that!!

Monday - Wednesday fitness wrap-up

I missed my core n' more class, but it was NOT MY FAULT!

The online schedule said 7:45-8:45p, but when I got to the gym and did my warm-up to prep for the class, I discovered it had actually started at 7:30! And they only let late comers come in during the first 5-10min of the class, for obvious reasons.

So, I instead burned off some steam, stress, and calories on the elliptical. I believe my burn was somewhere in the 375-380cal range, a pretty good burn for 30min.

Yesterday was.... well, it was the "bad day".

I had the interview originally scheduled at 7:30 in the evening, so I was planning on going to a cardio kick class in the early afternoon. That plan was changed when I was called in the morning and changed the time to 2:30pm.

I was also supposed to go to a trial TOPS meeting in the morning, but John's on vacation this week and he was just so warm and snuggly that I ignored my alarm and slept in, something that we never get to do because of our different schedules.

It wasn't a failure of a day, but it wasn't a victory by any means.

Also - I lost some IQ points because one of my sociology classes required that I watch "Bowling for Columbine" and I truly wanted to punch Michael Moore in the face. What an R-tard.

Fast forward to today. We slept in a little bit today also, and I have to work at 1:30, which is soon. We went to breakfast, I got the news I didn't get the job (see today's other post) and went on a little shopping therapy, and picked up a new tool in my fitness journey.
I'll hit the gym tonight after work, to get my workout in. Because I also missed today's class. I'm disappointed in myself, but I can't really dwell on that.

No video for this one..... I gotta get ready for work!

Shopping Therapy

Well, I didn't get the job. I took the phone call this morning while I was out with John to breakfast at this new 50's diner joint next to my gym. I wish I could say I was brave and blah blah and took my rejection with pride and elegance. Nope. I cried into my coffee. It wasn't scene-making sobbing, but even the waitress noticed my tears and [smartly] did not say anything about it.

We had a few errands to run, so while John drove I got myself together and texted the handful of friends/family that knew I was up for another job. My words sounded braver and more hopeful than I truly felt, though.

We stopped in to Target, and we always browse in the electronics department. John found "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles" on blu-ray for $4.48, which he was pretty excited about. I wandered down where the fitness accessories were, and to my surprise found something that would make my day a little better.

It's the Fitbit Zip! Normally $59.99 at Target (or close in price online if you buy new in box), I found this model, the blue one, on a price break of $35.97!! (Oddly, the pink and black ones were not on a price break) That's cheaper than I even found them online USED!

I haven't opened it yet, but I am going to as soon as I'm don here and mess with it. If I like it, I may pick up a second one, to either sell or possibly gift to one of my fitness buddies, maybe even my mother-in-law? I dunno, but that's a SUPER AWESOME price! (Even at Target.Com all models are still $60!)

So, life handed me lemons, and I clearly wanted oranges. But I am going to squeeze the lemon juice in the eyes of the company that passed me up, and move on with my life. This had only made me more ferocious to find something and show them my full potential.

Today's video: a Kelly Clarkson song that can serve as my theme right now....

Sunday: Zumba

Good evening!

I went to zumba this morning!

Huzzah!!

Then I went to work, and practically stood in place for 8 hours doing markdowns. That was fun. Not being in my department, doing things that are not related to my job? Oh yes, that makes a whole lot of sense. I just hope some good things come my way soon. :-)

So anyway, that's my update. I'm starting the week off on the right foot!! :)

Two-fer Saturday (This one's quick!)

So, here's my motivation to keep a gym schedule this week... I'm going to post my work and gym schedules so you can get on me if I don't make it to the gym, even though (according to the schedule) I CLEARLY have the time to do so.

Work                                    Schedule
12:15-8:45                            10-11 Zumba
9:45-5:45                              7:45-8:45p Core N More
OFF  (Interview)                   4:30-5:30p Step N Sculpt
1:30-10:00                            9-10a Yoga
OFF (Class)                          OFF gym
10:00-6:00                             7:30-8:30p Yoga
10:30-7:00                             OFF gym

So there it is. Now, Tuesday might have to be nixed because of the interview I have, and if that happens then I'll probably hit the gym equipment sometime on Thursday before class.

Have a Super Saturday!! :)

Valentine's Day

So, with the upcoming "holiday", I thought I'd give my fellow weight-loss-lovelys a viewpoint into the candy and chocolate you might be receiving.

I saw this on PopSugar, which is a pretty fantastic site! Check it out! (Disclaimer of course: I am not being endorsed by them, I just don't wanna get sued for using their stuff without giving them credit!)

I will not be receiving any candy, chocolate, flowers, or gifts this year, because I already got my gift!! MY new laptop!! Yay! We are still doing cards though, because we always try and get the funny cards for each other! :)

Here's the link to the FULL ARTICLE:::: Linkie!!!
So, here's your 100-calorie portions of the famous candies and chocolates given on Valentine's Day:

Conversation Hearts
One pc = 12cal ...... Eight pcs = 96cal

Peeps Milk Chocolate-Covered Marshmallow
One pc = 110cal

Russell Stover Heart-Shaped Chocolate Box:
One Piece = 67cal  ...... One and a half = 100.5cal

Dove Dark Chocolate Silky Smooth Promises
One pc = 36.7cal ...... Three pcs = 110cal

Plain M&M's
One pc = 3.4cal ...... 29pcs = 98.6cal

Hershey's Kisses
One pc = 22cal ...... Five pcs = 110cal

So, there you go! A little glimpse into what my happen to your diet if you scarf that entire box of candy down! What has worked for me in the past is to take any candy/chocolates I get and break them up into single-sized servings and bag them that way, so if I do get the urge it ends when the bag is empty and it's only a small bag.

Enjoy your Saturday! :)

Yo Estoy Enferma

I have a cold. I think John gave it to me, but I can't be sure, because I do work in retail and touch dirty, nasty money throughout the day. And although I try not to stick my fingers in my mouth at any point, sometimes I end up using my mouth as a holding space, for fixtures and the like. Gross, I know.

Anyway, so I'm in bed, well kinda. I just finished season 2 of Supernatural (OMG I cried when Sammy died!!) and then rejoiced as the finale came to an end (after all, who doesn't love a reprisal of John Winchester?!?!) I'm going to watch the first episode of Season 3 and take some Ny-quil and go to bed! It's gonna be a long day tomorrow. I work 8-5, then have class from 5:30-8:10. Ugh. :-\

Oh, here's a quick pic of my snuggle buddy, Patrice. He's such a Momma's boy!

I went to zumba on Sunday and have not been back to the gym yet this week. I will probably not make it back if this cold kicks my ass like it did John's. We'll see.

I have no new adventures in my foodies as of lately, but have about 80 recipes in my email inbox to look at. My Kindle has this awesome Pulse app that I can sort into different topics, and I have about 5 foodie ones I look at, and if anything peeks my interest I send it to my email to look at later. I also have 5 or 6 food magazines to go through, and another 40 or so recipe cards too. I'm gonna be a busy cooking bee!

John was almost going to Arizona for a week for work, but that fizzled out. Man, I was looking forward to sleeping alone for a week. Don't get me wrong, I love my husband... I just hate that he snores and refuses to seek treatment for it. Ugh.

Okay, well, I think I'm done for the evening. Oh, and a quick note, and this is why I haven't advertised this post on facebook...

I have a job interview on Friday! <3 Yay! Think good thoughts... I need this! :)
